On the evening of June 10, 2026, after a joyful meal at home with his wife and children, Frank slipped into eternity. Six days short of his 98th birthday, joking and in fine form until his final breath, he passed away peacefully in his beloved Florida.
Francesco Frederico Moretti was born in Modugno, Italy, in 1928, to Michele and Teresa Moretti. Frank was the eldest of six children, of whom Vito (late Stellina), Mary (late Lino), and Grace (Franco) survive him. He was predeceased by his brother, Nicola, sister, Anna (late John) and his parents.
In 1949, Frank left Italy for Canada, making his way eventually to London, Ontario, where he married the love of his life, Irene (Decaigny), in 1954. They raised three children in a happy, lively home before moving to Florida in 1972.
Frank was a loving father to Steven (Pamela), Valerie (Francis) and Rocky (Valerie). He was also a caring and beloved Nonno /Grandfather to Phillip (Amelia), Marc (Sabrina), Tyler, and Keera (Wael); Sabrina (Joe) and Andrew (Alyssa); Myrna (Greg), Stella, Talia (Angel) and Taddeo.
Almost every conversation with Frank included a few jokes, quickly followed by humorous anecdotes involving his grandchildren or his nine great-grandchildren, whom he dearly treasured. He was a proud Bisnonno to Austin, Heidi, Matteo, Yusuf, Mia, Issa, Safiya, Sloane and Iris.
Frank will be remembered by his many friends and family in Florida, Canada and Italy. He had the unique ability to make everyone laugh, whether it was a cashier at the grocery store or his oldest friend. He had an unbridled curiosity for the world and a compassion for every living soul he encountered. He amused, elevated and occasionally confounded those who might attempt to narrowly define him.
A celebration of his life will be held in Oviedo, Florida, in June and in London, Ontario, in August.
