

Geraldine “Jeri” Phillips, age 93 of Chuluota, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015. She was born June 7, 1922 in Jackson County, Pennsylvania. Jeri loved gardening and was a member of the Oviedo Garden Club and the United Methodist Women’s “Ruth” Circle. She was passionate about her church, family, gardening, traveling, painting, playing the piano, and reading.
Jeri is now in heaven with her husband (of 72 years) Ralph, who passed in 2013. Jeri and Ralph served as active members of the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo (FUMCO) for over 40 years. An active member of her local community, Jeri was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Seminole County Voters League and a Dividends mentor with Seminole County Public Schools. Jeri raised a family and supported her husband throughout his 26 year career in the United States Air Force, including WWII, Korea and Vietnam. She was the epitome of a military wife, embracing her role with the essence of duty and responsibility. Jeri was a role model and guide post for the family until the end of life; planning for the continuation of life and the celebration of life memorial service.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Sue LaFavor (John) and Judy Ann Brantley; son, Larry Alan Phillips (Rose); daughters, Deborah Lynn Lawhorn and Wende Lee Phillips; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 6 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church Oviedo, Historic Sanctuary.
