Gordon Russell Decker, 86, passed away on September 5, 2026. Born January 1, 1940, on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois, Gordon earned his high school diploma and carried forward a steady dedication to learning and service throughout his life. He resided in Orlando, Florida.
Gordon served with distinction as an Aviation Electronics Technician and as an Electronics Instructor with the Navy at Great Lakes and NTC Orlando. In these roles, he brought precision, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility to work that demanded both technical skill and patient instruction.
On November 5, 1965, Gordon married Ruth Decker. Gordon is survived by his children Kenneth (Karen) Russel Decker and Albert(Annette) Brian Decker.
Beyond his professional life, Gordon found lasting enjoyment in pursuits that reflected his careful craftsmanship and enduring curiosity. He had a passion for computers, lighthouses, and building model ships , interests that spoke to both an appreciation for innovation and a respect for the enduring artistry of things made by hand.
A Funeral Service will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 501 E MITCHELL HAMMOCK RD, OVIEDO, FL 32765, on September 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Graveside service will follow at SCI Funeral Services of Florida LLC DBA Baldwin-Fairchild Alternatives at All Faiths, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL 32707, on September 19, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
