
The first of three sons born of the late Alice Hamilton Richard and the late Hardy Lucien Richard, Hardy was born in New Orleans on September 13, 1937. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dotty Love Richard, daughters Tynia Richard and Cheryl Billips, and granddaughter Jasmine Billips, who loved and will miss him everyday.
He was preceded in death by brothers Albert Joseph Richard and Warren Charles Richard and is survived by half-brother Haywood LaSalle; he is also survived by nephews Eric, Warren Jr., and Damon; nieces Joan, Judy, Donna, Alyce, and Jaime; sister-in-law Carolyn Love, and numerous cousins and relatives.
Hardy served for two years in the United States Army, receiving Honorable Discharge in 1963. He graduated L.B. Landry High School in 1956 and, in 1957, entered Southern University in Baton Rouge where be matriculated for one year.
Hardy was an active member of Payne Memorial AME Church, located at 3306 South Liberty Street in New Orleans, where Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, respectively. Reverend Shelton O. Myers, presiding.
