Over her 79-year life, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, and teacher.
She leaves behind a family who loved her, students who learned from her, and a lifetime of moments that reflect the kind, generous, and thoughtful woman she was. Jackie was kind, but not a pushover. Generous, but not one to lose herself in the process.
Thoughtful, with a mind of her own and a strong will to match. She knew what she believed, stood firmly in her convictions, and spoke her mind in a gentle way.
Jackie graduated from North Carolina State University and taught eighth-grade English and Social Studies for over 30 years, displaying a special kind of patience, confidence, and
resilience. She instilled these traits with her family and particularly her daughters, Anita and Caroline. She taught her students and family that words mattered and brought her own combination of strength and heart to the classroom and home.
Jackie was married to the love of her life, William Gregory. They were inseparable and built their life together for nearly 60 years, creating memories with family and friends in their different
homes from North Carolina to Colorado to Atlanta, Georgia and finally to Orlando and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. These memories have shaped the family left behind.
Jackie is survived by her husband, William Gregory; daughters Anita (Kevin) Arnold and Caroline (Han) Chang; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelly Arnold; brother, Wayne (Robin) Conyers; and cousins, Dale Strickland and Rhonda Irwin.
Services will be private at family's request.
