James Charles Zeh

With profound sadness, the family announces the unexpected passing of James Charles Zeh (Jim) on July 10, 2026. Born in Buffalo, New York, Jim lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Zeh, and a sister Sarah (Sally) Simons. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children Mike Zeh (Terri), Patricia Zeh McKissic, Jamie Rutherford (Bill), Tommy Zeh (Shannon); and his stepson Michael Simpson (Beata Gabriela); two younger brothers Bill Zeh and Larry Zeh. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, each bringing him tremendous joy.

Jim began his working life at the original Burger King in Miami, Florida, before embarking on a long and respected career with Eastern Airlines. He started by fueling airplanes and, through dedication and a strong work ethic, rose into Management. He was admired for his leadership, reliability, and fairness. His love of grilling—whether for family, friends, or Eastern Airlines picnics—reflected his generous spirit and his gift for bringing people together.

In his youth, Jim had a passion for fast cars and proudly owned a ’57 Chevy. Over time, his interests shifted toward the outdoors. He loved cultivating plants, tending his acreage, and spending time on the water. Saltwater fishing and boating were among his greatest pleasures.

Sports, especially football, were central to Jim’s life. He and his sons shared the experience of playing the game, and watching both college and professional teams became a cherished pastime. He was a loyal supporter of his hometown Miami teams and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on.

Jim leaves behind countless memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing he will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered for the devotion he showed to those he held dear.
