Jill Lindstadt (Schaefer), age 68, of Orlando, Florida passed away at home with her family beside her on Sunday, September 4th, 2022. She is survived by her only child, Rebecca Lindstadt-Rossi (Justin C. Rossi) of Wellington, Florida and her beloved fiancé, Thomas K. Bryson, of Orlando, Florida.
Jill was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, New York and moved with her parents, Marie Y. DeRobertis (Schaefer) and Henry F. Schaefer, Jr, to East Northport, New York on Long Island before she was school age. She leaves behind two sisters, Wendy M. Agudelo (Schaefer), of Springhill, Florida, and Lisa Schaefer, of Hollywood, Florida; a nephew Andres E. Torres Schaefer of Astoria, New York, and a niece, Amber P. Young (Erikson) of Austin, Texas.
Jill attended the Elwood School District Schools in East Northport and graduated with Honors from John H. Glenn High School, the same high school her daughter attended and graduated from in 1998. Jill went to Cosmetology school, against her parents’ better judgment, and became a successful hairdresser working in Long Island and eventually started her own business cutting hair in people’s homes.
Jill grew up amongst friends, family, and schoolmates on Penfield Drive in East Northport. The Schaefer home was known throughout the neighborhood as being a gathering place where all were welcome to “standing and singing on the picnic table in their backyard” and hanging out together.
At 26, Jill had Rebecca Anne Lindstadt (Rossi) who was born on her birthday, August 15, 1980. Jill has said Rebecca was her most precious gift.
Later in life at 40, she returned to school and completed her Associates Degree in Counseling. She then became Director of a teen homeless shelter in Dix Hills, New York for St. Christopher-Ottilie/ SCO Family of Services. She was an inspiration to her daughter, who became a social worker and followed in her footsteps.
Jill moved to Springhill, Florida from New York in May 2009 to help her father care for her mother at home. And when she passed, Jill continued to care for her father until his passing in 2019 in Orlando, Florida.
Jill met Tom in 2013, and shortly thereafter, they became engaged to be married. Tom was a friend, soul mate and confidant, who she trusted, loved, and cared for. Tom helped care for her father, and eventually for her, when she was brought home to find peace.
Jill enjoyed the beach, swimming, hair/nails & makeup, tattoos, and body art, and laughing. She had a sass about her that you couldn’t deny and wasn’t afraid of anything life threw at her. She will forever be missed and loved by her family and her friends.
A visitation for Jill will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 501 E MITCHELL HAMMOCK RD, OVIEDO, FL 32765, followed by a funeral service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
