Kurt Bennett, 68, of Chuluota, FL passed away suddenly on June 1, 2025. Kurt was born in Syracuse, NY on May 13, 1957 to Vera and George Bennett. After leaving Syracuse in 1985, he followed his chosen vocation to Orlando, FL.
Kurt graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University as a respiratory therapist. He had a strong passion for his life's work and felt his true calling was to help save the children, and indeed he did. He worked for nearly forty years serving the neonatal population under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Gregor Alexander at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children, and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. In an effort to prepare for retirement, Kurt transitioned to serving the adult community working in the pulmonology clinic at Orlando Health. As many know, he was extremely passionate about his work and loved all of his patients, young and old. He provided expertise, trust, compassion, and a tremendous amount of education to his patients and their families throughout his career. Along the way he made everlasting friendships with countless coworkers that he cherished deeply.
A lover of many sports, Kurt was an avid fan of Syracuse lacrosse, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, the University of Alabama football, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. By far, he was most enthusiastic to cheer on his children from the sidelines while they played lacrosse. Kurt had the ability to talk to anyone, make newcomers feel welcome, and always had a vivacious attitude. He was a man of profound faith and loved God above all things. The deep affection he had for his family was immeasurable and we will struggle to fill the void that his loss leaves behind.
Kurt is preceded in death by his father, George Bennett, mother, Vera Bennett, and brother, Kenneth Bennett. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 24 years, Dawn Bennett, children Rachel Trent (Talon), Lauren Bennett (Sam), Andrew Bennett (Juleidy), Kristopher Bennett, Katie Bennett, granddaughters Stella Bennett and Krisleidy Rodriguez. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Hart, Barbara Burgess, Debra Blok, Marsha Roskopf (Michael), Janice Konz (Charlie), and many other extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 3-5 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Oviedo, FL. Pastor G. Singleton will be presiding.
