Luke was involved in so many things in his brilliant 16 years. He followed in the footsteps of his older siblings doing Run Club and Scouts at Partin Elementary. He was what we called a dabbler of sports. He played Hagerty Pop Warner, Oviedo Babe Ruth Baseball, Soccer and Blue Dolphins swim before finding his first real love, Tennis. Luke was an exceptional tennis player and competed in many tournaments through his pre-High School days. Entering into Hagerty High School Luke decided to change paths a bit. He rediscovered his desire to swim, but mostly because of a new passion, Water Polo. Luke instantly fell in love with the sport as a freshman. Earning personal awards, and a varsity letter. Luke was an enthusiastic foodie and was in his third year of culinary studies at Hagerty High School.
Luke’s passions outside of sports were cars, cooking and anyone who really knew him knows his adventurous palette and love for food. He loved going to food festivals and eating in mass quantities. He looked at a buffet as a personal challenge. It was impressive for someone that was so tall and thin. The only thing bigger than Luke’s stomach was his heart. Luke was a loving person. There was not a day that went by that he did not say “I love you” to his family. Oftentimes multiple times per day. He would say those magical words in the presence of his friends and we all know that is rare for a teenager. He knew love and knew well how much he was loved. He was always up for a laugh and a witty joke. Smart humor was his thing. He shared with his parents when he was five that “He would rather be funny than smart.” He loved his dog Leia Rey and those two were with each other often. Luke loved to travel, ride roller coasters, go to the springs with friends. He is what we all called a social person. He was so in tune with what was going on around him. He could sense who needed a hug or needed a laugh and he always delivered to those that needed it most. Recently, he landed his “dream job” at Publix. He loved working there and his managers and co-workers loved working with him. He had big plans for his post High School career. He was not interested in traditional college. He wanted to become a welder and eventually open his own company with the promise of buying a big house for his parents and a pet dolphin for his mom. He would say it all the time, “I am going to get you your dream car and house.” He wanted to give back to those that loved him.
Luke is survived by his loving family, (parents) James & Irene Jenson, (sister) Kendall Jenson and predeceased by his brother Carter Jenson. Patti & Walt Calkins (grandparents), Scott & Denise Jenson (aunts & uncles) Katie & Kevin Hipsher, Brian & Lynn Sicoli, Patty & Lusinda Duffy and Bryan Fairbrother, (cousins) Kellen & Keegan Hipsher, Josh, Bailey & Charlie Grace Henry, Samantha & Emma Sicoli, Michael Duffy, Kai Jenson, Marissa Barnes, Miles Fairbrother.
Life won’t be the same without Luke and his beautiful laugh, huge hugs and smile. We feel grateful for having such a wonderful son and comforted knowing that he lives on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and his community. He will be forever missed.
