

Born in Homestead, PA on January 28, 1941, she was the oldest child of the late Anthony Francis and Helen Gertrude (Pochatco) Santoro. She graduated from Clarion High school and went on to California University and then to Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she achieved her Master of Primary Education.
Mare was very athletic and smart. She was an excellent ice skater and had many competitions in Schenley Park, Pittsburgh. She played softball and enjoyed hunting with her father. She had an artistic eye and her paintings are gorgeous. She also took up photography. Mare was always learning. She learned how to become an EMT, became a Respiratory Therapist, fly a plane, to ski, SCUBA dive, man a houseboat on the Mississippi and how to dismantle and run a cremator and retort!
Mare was hilarious, would do just about anything for a laugh. There were always inside jokes with her. She was very playful and energetic. She was inquisitive and bright. She loved her family so dearly. She missed her parents everyday. She loved her siblings very much. Her kids were her rock. Her grandchildren were her joy and she was so excited about the addition of little Jacob to the clan!
In addition to her husband, Al, Mare is survived by seven of the world's most awesome children, Kristen Ellen (Haas) Alvis and Brian Alvis of Tampa, Stephen Thomas Haas and his wife Caroline (Black) Haas of Oviedo, Gretchen (Haas) Kuzas and her husband Allen Kuzas of Salem, WI, Michael Charles Haas and his wife Deborah (Hutchings) Haas of Lake Mary, Thomas Francis Haas and his wife Christy (Widdig) Haas of Minford, OH, Erika Marie Haas of Reading, PA and Matthew Kent Haas and his wife Amber (Brayman) Haas of Deltona; a small army of grandchildren, Courtney (Owen) Stahlman and her husband Michael, Alexander Haas and his wife Tracy (Todd) Haas, Andrew Haas, Kaytlin Haas, Kirsten Haas, Mackenzie Haas, Dylan Haas, Brandon Haas, Collin Haas, Rylee Haas, Camryn Haas, Aiden Haas, Brady Haas, Tyler Haas, Coen Haas, Charlotte Haas, Ryan Haas, Lillian Haas, Lauren Haas and Allison Haas; and one great grandson, Jacob Haas! Step daughter, Barbie (Beron) Wall and her husband, Jeff of Sanford and their two children, Randy and Jessie.
Also surviving are her two siblings; brother Michael "Doc" Santoro and his wife Jean of Orlando and their sons, Michael and James Santoro and sister Andrea (Santoro) Borger and fiance Ned Gunter of Clearfield and her children, Anthony Borger and Gretchen (Borger) Fuller. Two nieces, Stephanie (Hodge) Wolfe, Bobbi Jo (Hodge) Hopf. Former husband and friend, Thomas S. Haas.
In addition to her parents, Mare is predeceased by two sisters, Paulette (Santoro) Hodge, Frances Karen (Santoro) Lutz; brothers-in law, Gregg Borger and David Hodge, nephew, Greggie Borger and best friend, Catalina Arias.
Due to the Global Pandemic, Mare’s Celebration of Life will be private and limited to family only.
