Matthew James Yost, age 56 of Chuluota passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2020 peacefully surrounded by his wife and children in one of his favorite places- Asheville, North Carolina. Even in death Matthew was a life giver as an organ donor. He was born October 9, 1964 in Wattsburg, Pennsylvania. Matt was an amazing, loving husband of 33 years to Donna Yost and wonderful father to three daughters - Jennifer Adams, Lauren Kennedy and Melissa Yost. Matthew has 9 beautiful grandchildren Jazianna Adams, Jonathan Adams, Kaylee Adams, Angelina Adams, Neyland Adams, Juliana Adams, Riley Kennedy, Amelia Adams, Logan Kennedy. He is also survived by his mother Sheva Yost, 3 sisters and a brother Gary Yost, Cheryl Ashry, Julie Carnes, Coreen Ellrodt. He is preceded in death by his father Leonard H. Yost and brother Leonard Yost.

Matt was a man of few words but he had a heart of gold. If you ever needed him, he'd be there no questions asked. He always made sure his 4 girls were taken care of. They could always count on him for everything - words of advice, change a tire, cook a meal, make them laugh when they were sad, teach them something new like putting up a fence, install electrical outlet or how to make hollandaise sauce. He was the most amazing person and we were all so lucky to have a man like him in our lives.

Matt was a part of the National Guard for 6 years and an exceptional, well respected chef for over 30 years. There wasn't anything he couldn't make. He had a true passion for the meals he created. He worked for Disney, Harrah's Casino and The Peabody hotel to name a few. He even helped open a few restaurants for them. He was a hard worker and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved Donna with all his heart and was proud to be a "girl dad". His eyes lit up around his grandchildren and grand-dogs and he would grin ear to ear. He loved working on his farm, rescuing senior dogs, shooting guns, fishing, hunting, camping, Lynyrd Skynyrd, traveling, and relaxing with his family and many dogs. He was a true jack of all trades. There wasn't anything he couldn't do.

Three years ago, Matt was diagnosed with a rare progressive neurodegenerative disorder called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). He never let that diagnosis stop him from doing what he loved. He fought every day and was a true warrior until the very end.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in January. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Matt’s name to the MSA coalition, Defeat MSA Alliance or his favorite rescue group SOCKS (Save our Cocker Spaniels)

Matt was a caring and gentle soul. You could tell that he loved Donna and his girls. He was so proud of them. He took his illness in stride and never seemed to complain. He was a great chef and I enjoyed the meals he prepared for us all. We will miss him and know he is now healthy once again in heaven. All our love and sympathy to Donna and family.

Matt, you will be missed greatly. Visiting at your home will become a treasured memory. I want to thank you for all you have done for me professionally and personally. Teaching me about Culinary Arts, being a mentor, and a father figure to look up too in life. Being a young chef and man, you hwlped me grow in both areas, giving advice when needed and your actions spoke volumes. Thank you for bringing me into your family and it is my honor to be your good friend. Love you always.

Matt.. you were always an amazing man. Full of life, love, laughter. Our families were so close, you became one of my favorite brothers. The memories, the times we shared back in the day at the Wattsburg hangout... Dan and Cheryl's!!! When i found out you had became a chef.. I was shocked, amazed, and so proud, happy. The creations you shared left me in awe. Your gardens, canning, home cooked meals. The paths our lives take us.... took you. God bless you always. You left a piece of you in so many hearts and lives...... hugs and love little brother
