Nancy is survived by her dedicated husband of 47+ years Dennis Dulniak in Oviedo, FL; her son Mark Dulniak and wife Olivia and grandson Blaine of Knoxville, TN; her son Craig Dulniak and wife Julia and grandson William of Philadelphia, PA; her sisters Patricia Albright (Dave), Pamela MacTaggart (Tom), Margaret “Peg” Downey, nieces, nephews, countless friends, and her loving dog, Alfie.
Daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Downey, Nancy was born in Granville, NY and raised there along with her three older sisters, where she frequented Scotty’s for chocolate malted milkshakes. She graduated from Granville High School in 1969 and subsequently enrolled at SUNY-Fredonia, meeting her future husband on their first day of orientation. Nancy graduated with a Bachelors in Sociology in 1973 and married Dennis in a June wedding in Dayton, OH that same year.
Nancy was blessed with two boys, Mark and Craig, and was a caring, supportive, and proud mother. She was a voracious reader of fiction throughout her life and turned her passion into her career, earning a Master of Librarianship from the University of South Carolina in 1987. She worked as a research librarian at Piedmont Technical College, the federal law library in Nashville, TN, tenured Librarian at Austin Peay State University, and Cataloger at Maitland Public Library, FL. In 2014, she retired from the Florida A&M University College of Law Library after being diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, a precursor to Alzheimer’s Disease.
During retirement, Nancy enjoyed countless athletic events, musical and theatrical performances, sang weekly with the Central Florida Community Arts Musical Minds choir, and traveled the world with Dennis, visiting places she had dreamed of seeing, including Ireland, Wales, Poland, and Italy, and cruising the Panama Canal and the Alaskan coast. Though distance limited frequent visits, Nancy loved her grandsons deeply and enjoyed playing with and watching videos of them.
Nancy’s ashes will be interred at a private ceremony alongside her parents’ graves in Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Granville, NY.
