

He was born in New York City on November 15, 1931 the son of Margaret and Patrick Earls. As a young boy, he was predeceased by his father, Patrick Earls. Later in life, he was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Margaret and Stephen O’Shea, by his half-sister Eileen O’Shea Valentine, and two half brothers Stephen O’Shea and Kevin O’Shea. Patrick was also predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Ellerkamp Earls in 2004. They were married in the Bronx at St. Peter and Paul Parish in 1952.
Patrick is survived by his son, Kenneth P. Earls of Oviedo who resided with him; his daughter Beth and son-in-law Mickey of Contoocook, NH; granddaughter Kerry and her husband Shayne of Weare, NH; and his two great grandchildren Brycen Wallace and Brayleigh Wallace of Weare, NH.
Patrick was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, NY. Upon completing high school, Patrick was enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Newport News, Virginia and was honorably discharged in 1954. Upon returning to New York, he worked several short term jobs until he was able to enroll in the New York City Police Academy in 1955. While on the job, he served in a number of duties. His final duty was that of Detective Sergeant investigating Major Crimes. He retired from that job in 1981 after serving 25 years. During his career, he received many commendations and awards. After retirement, he relocated to Florida with his wife and son. He began transporting ambulances to various parts of the country for several years and he worked part-tine for UPS for 5 years. He then joined the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in the position of the Court Bailiff in Orlando. He retired from that job after 10 years.
In New York, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After moving to Florida, he served the community of St. Joseph Parish in Orlando serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher for over 40 years. He did this until his health prevented him from continuing.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 501 E. Mitchell Hammock Road, Oviedo, Florida 32765.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1501 N Alafaya Trail, Orlando, FL 32828 with interment following in Chapel Hill Cemetery,
