Robert Donald Buser passed away peacefully in Winter Springs, Florida on Friday, June 4, 2021. Bobby was born on January 7, 1939 in Plant City, Florida, to parents Callie and Fairy Mae Buser. Bobby grew up on a strawberry farm with his three brothers and two sisters, where he started working at just four years old. His strong work ethic continued into his adult years when he became a Rod Man on a survey crew, and quickly joined the State Department as an engineering aide in 1958. While working full time and raising a family, Bobby put himself through night school to gain his Professional Engineering license. He was the Project Engineer on the Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg, FL, and was the Resident Engineer for the construction of Interstate 275 through St. Petersburg, among many other notable projects. In 1983, all of Bobby’s hard work and determination paid off when he was appointed as the State Construction Engineer for FDOT. In 1991 Bobby became the Project Manager for PBS&J and retired after 17 years with their company. In 2018, he was inducted into the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association’s Hall of Fame. Bobby not only made a lasting impact on the construction engineering industry, but also on those who were lucky enough to know him and call him friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Buser, daughters Connie Maxwell, Rhonda Cutchen, and Beverly Bowden, his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life being held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name. Condolences may be offered in the online guest book below.
