Roberta L Wharton

Roberta dedicated her life to her family. Roberta was married to her husband Rawley for 67 years before his passing in 2020.

Roberta was born on December 5, 1933 and was 1 of 12 children. Family meant everything to Roberta. Roberta dedicated her life to her family. After getting pregnant, she gave up her career to focus on raising her two children. As an Air Force wife, she moved around the world making a happy home for her family everywhere from Hawaii to Germany and points in between.

Roberta was the mother every kid dreamed of having and the mother every teacher could count on to help in class, bake for the bake sale and chaperone field trips. She made sure her kids had every opportunity to excel and experience amazing things during their travels as a family despite rather meager means. After her kids went off to college, Roberta started volunteering in local school classes and helped struggling kids learn how to read and do mathematics. After her grandson was born, her attention shifted to babysitting him and teaching him how to read, write and do mathematics. Roberta was a humble woman who was generous with her time and her heart. She touched everyone that she came in contact with, offered a smile to everyone and was beloved by her family and friends.

Roberta was a devout Catholic and a member of the Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, Florida. Roberta enjoyed volunteering in the public school system, volunteering at church, keeping up with her kids and grandson, decorating the house for literally every single holiday, and traveling.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, 10 sisters and brothers, and her husband Rawley.

Roberta is survived by her son Andrew and his husband Lucas, daughter Lisa, grandson London and her brother Jim, who will all miss her dearly.

Visitation will be at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on October 23, 2023, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM on October 23, 2023, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, with interment following at All Faiths Memorial Park, 1390 Park Dr., Casselberry, FL 32707.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
