Thomas B Castillo

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Villafuerte and Pastora Castillo, his sister, Lourdes Ramos, his brother, Villafuerte Castillo, Jr., and his grandson, Julian Thomas Martinez. He is survive by his sisters, Patrocinio Pastores and Consorcia Gonzales and his brother, Joselito Castillo. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Corazon Arriola Castillo, and his children, Beverly Schlegel (Philip), Cliff Castillo, Judy Castillo, Gladys Edwards (Douglas James), Mary Ann Martinez (Raymond), Christie Watson (Christopher), Mary Concepcion Gillio (Michael) and Mary Therese Taylor (Michael Andrew). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Edwards, G. Philip Schlegel IV, Christopher James Schlegel, Alexander Matthew Schlegel, William Travis Schlegel, Isabela Louisa Martinez, Julian Ramon Martinez, Amilia Ann Martinez, Caitlyn Josephine Watson, Hayden Charles Watson, Bianca Rose Gillio, Gerard Michael Gillio, Hudson Bautista Taylor and Walker Thomas Taylor. Thomas was born in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from Araneta University. He married his “forever”, Corazon, on September 3, 1960.

In 1974, they took a leap of faith and ventured to start a new life in the United States for their family. Thomas lived his life in humble service to God and his family. He was a devout Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the beauty of nature especially at the farm that he dedicated to reflect the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thomas loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. You could often find him driving his golf cart around the farm, tinkering with various farm equipment, playing scrabble, chess, and tennis. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A private viewing will be held from 2-4 pm on December 15, 2022 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Oviedo, FL.

A funeral Mass service is scheduled for 11:00 am on December 16, 2022 at Holy Spirit Church in Mims, FL with immediate family.

The Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer will be officiating a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life at their 30th Annual Thanksgiving Retreat on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Castillo Farm with family, relatives and friends.
