Thomas M. Munday, age 87, of Winter Springs, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born to the farming life on June 4, 1935, in Benton, Illinois, and thrived riding tractors, hunting and chopping wood.
Fascinated by science, math and the inner workings of nature and things from an early age, Thomas completed degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. He specialized in rocket telemetry when he moved to Florida in the 1960s and was a team member of several space projects including Mercury, Redstone, Apollo and Saturn 1B rocket, predecessors to manned moon flight. After retiring from Lockheed Martin, he spent his happiest moments in his busy workshop studying and repairing electrical items and traveling throughout the United States.
He is survived by his second wife, Lonny Gruber; two children, Michael Munday and Carol Wilson, son in law, Mighk Wilson; and a stepdaughter, D. Elise Gruber, son in law George C. Herman.
