Valerie Sommers

Valerie married Segismond Sommers on the 11th of December, 1960 and had four children, Gary, Alwyn, (deceased) Shelley (Toni) and Robin (Ro).

In April of 1982 Valerie migrated to the United States with her family. She and Segismond, made Brooklyn their home, before eventually moving to Florida in 2000.

Valerie’s love and devotion to her family was immeasurable; always putting their needs before her own. But this was not limited to her family, she showed that same kindness to all who crossed her path. This was evident in her acquired family who loving called her Moms, Grandma Kay, Kisses, Miss Kay and Aunt Kay.

She is survived by her husband, Segismond, her children Gary and his wife Ilona, Shelley and her husband Kirk Brown and Robin. Grand children, Sean, Mychael, Janai and her husband Trent Bonds, Shakor, Kareem, Zachary, Parrys and Essence. Her Great grandchildren Jordan and James.

Special thanks to Milesa Rodriguez-Lyew and her family, who were instrumental in taking care of Valerie. Milesa did so unselfishly and lovingly. There are no words to describe how truly grateful we are, for all that she has done for our mother.
