Wanda May Hathaway

Wanda was born on December 23, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Linden High School. Following graduation, Wanda started her career as a secretary for an insurance company where she met her future husband. She ended her career as a secretary in the epidemiology department at The Ohio State University, a job she valued greatly.

Wanda's greatest joy in life was her family. It was rare to find a photograph of her without the people she loved most by her side, a testament to the close relationships she cherished throughout her life.

She enjoyed splitting her time between Norris Lake, Tennessee and Ponce Inlet, Florida, where she found peace in life's simple pleasures. She loved slow mornings spent with a cup of coffee, watching the birds, feeding rabbits, and baking homemade pies for family and friends.

Wanda never met a stranger. She welcomed everyone with a warm smile, an open heart, and genuine kindness that made people feel instantly at home. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, she had a remarkable gift for making you feel like you belonged.

She is survived by her daughters Melony Hall and Heather (Michael) Walker. Her grandchildren Gavin (Saxon) Hall, Abigail Hall, Shelby (Logan) Schultz, and Alexandra (Jacob) Sendelbach. Her great grandson, Bennett Schultz and great granddaughter Hall due in December. She will also be missed by nieces and nephews that adored her: Kevin Hathaway, Christopher Hathaway, Nicholas Hathaway, Emily (Drew) Patterson, Natalie Patterson, Robert Gerwig, Leah McAbee, John Gerwig, and Jane Gerwig.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wade, an admirable marriage of love and happiness. In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her parents John and Katherine Powell, and her son-in-law John Hall.
