Alma Kaylene Smith Ogle, the second of six children, was born February 20, 1922 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Winnie Lathrum Smith and Miles M. W. Smith.
Alma married Wesley Brantley Ogle on June 29, 1943 while he was in the Navy. Their children, Kay Jeanne and Jerry Michael Brantley, were born in Texas. The family returned to Oklahoma in 1952 and moved to Monterey in 1957. Alma and Wes were adoring parents. She worked for 37 ½ years for SBC and Pac Bell retiring in June 1975 as Manager of Operator Services.
Alma was an involved member of the Monterey United Methodist Church for more than fifty years and was also a volunteer for CHOMP for many years. The Rec Trail in Pacific Grove was her favorite early-morning place.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Kay (James) Russell of Chicago and their children, Brantley (Marta) Russell and children, Foster and Soren and Eleanor Kay (Andre) Russell and son, Jean-Jacque; her son, Jerry (Debbie) Ogle of Monterey; her siblings, Joyce Stockton, Melvin Smith and Wanda Stone; her sister-in-law, Pat Ogle Coker, and numerous nieces and nephews who are all very sweet people.
Alma lived her final years at Canterbury Woods in Pacific Grove. She now joins her beloved husband, Wes, having lived a well-loved life.
