Carmel ~ Bruce Irving Rauch, born July 5, 1930, died peacefully, and surrounded by family on April 8, 2014, due to complications from pneumonia. Bruce is survived by his sister, Joan (Rauch) Kaufman, his three children: Matthew, Paul (Donna) and Stephanie Hulseman and six grandchildren, Cierra, Isaac, Tyler, Brett, Madison and Jordan, as well as his loving companion, Barbara Holland. Bruce was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Joan Lorraine (Bruckner) Rauch.
Bruce was born in Los Angeles, California to Marcus and Sally Rauch. He attended school in Los Angeles and met Joan at Fairfax High School. After high school, Bruce graduated from UCLA and later graduated with honors from UCLA Law School, as part of the second graduating class.
Bruce served honorably in the Air Force until 1958, and, upon separation from active duty, Bruce and Joan returned to Los Angeles where they resided until moving to Carmel in 1990. Bruce was a successful business attorney, where he was a partner in various firms, as well as solo practitioner until his retirement.
In his spare time, Bruce's favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren as well as being an active volunteer for many charitable organizations. Bruce was also very involved in his synagogue during his years in Los Angeles, where he served as President for several years. Bruce was an avid reader of all topics, and loved to debate current events and politics with those he conversed with. He enjoyed travelling, camping, and watching sports, particularly anytime his favorite UCLA Bruins were competing.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM this Friday, April 10, at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 945 S. Main, Ste,. 201, Salinas, CA, 93901.
