

Carolyn Blocker passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband and sons, on Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 28, 2024, after a brief illness. She spent the last six years dealing with the challenges of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. She was born on September 29, 1940 in Superior, Wisconsin to Louis and Audry Lundquist, spending her early years in nearby Ashland.
She moved to Monterey in 1978 after having lived in various places, including Hawaii and Germany.
In 1980 Carolyn met the love of her life, Ted Blocker, who she married in 1984.
Many might recognize her as the owner of the Cannery Row gift shop "The Sand Dollar" where her artistic impulses were well reflected. She retired in 2017.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Ted, sons James Vocelka (Cathleen) and Jeffrey Vocelka (Elaine), granddaughters Natasha (Sean) and Veronica, grandson Alex, great-granddaughter Ruby, and sister Ardith Kass (Don) who resides in Lakeside, Minnesota.
Carolyn's unconditional love for her children, grandchildren, husband Ted, and her family and friends was demonstrated all the time through her love of cooking, her amazing ability to decorate for the holidays, and her invitations to share her beautiful home.
Carolyn was well known for her gourmet cooking skills, entertaining family, friends, and visitors with joy and grace.
Carolyn was an avid traveler. She and Ted loved their cruises to Mexico, Mediterranean, Asia, Caribbean, Australia/New Zealand, and Alaska. She also loved her frequent trips to The Netherlands visiting Ted's many relatives.
Carolyn was a precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife. Her memories will remain a blessing to all that knew and loved her.
