Cody E. Smith, a 28-year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, passed away July 12th. Cody was a graduate of North Monterey County High School and attended MPC. He graduated from the Pre Apprenticeship Program for Carpentry and worked as an apprentice carpenter for a short time. His interest in information technology development was ongoing. He held many certificates of completion for education in computer hardware and software training and internet skills.
For the last 5 years, Cody’s career choice was in the security/locksmith business. He worked on both commercial and residential security in the tri-county area with his family. Cody found this work challenging, but he also found great satisfaction in helping customer’s problem solve their security issues.
Cody loved to camp, fish, barbeque and compete in shooting matches. He enjoyed making jewelry for his family and friends. While growing up, he worked many summers at the Boy Scout Camp, Pico Blanco, Big Sur, in a variety of leadership positions. Cody was a young man who lived his life to the fullest.
Cody is survived by his loving Wife-Julia Smith, his Parents-Glenn and Eileen Smith, his Grandparents-Donald and Dorothy Stoffey and his Aunt Karen Drummond plus many cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.
A private burial service will be held at a future date.
Directions: From downtown Monterey, drive up to the top of Jefferson St. which becomes Veterans Dr. Continue on Veterans Dr. passing the Monterey Peninsula Post 41 Building and also passing the entrance to Veterans Memorial Park Camp. Stay on Veterans Dr. to the group picnic area which will be to your left.
