Diane Blanchard DeWeese, 67, of Del Rey Oaks, CA passed away unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism on October 31, 2020.
Born in Putnam, CT on February 11, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Rose Blanchard of Sterling, CT. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law, Glenna DeWeese, and her brothers-in-law, Peter DeWeese and Paul Brennan.
Diane graduated from Plainfield High School in 1970 and went on to Southern Connecticut State University to further her education. Her sense of adventure led her to California where her future husband, Charlie, was waiting. They married at Colton Hall in Monterey, CA on December 13, 1984.
Diane worked many jobs in the hospitality business. She was a server, concierge, manager of a travel agency and an excellent mixologist. She also found great satisfaction working as an instructional aide in the Monterey Peninsula School District.
She loved travel, nature, art and animals. She and Charlie visited the Galápagos Islands, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and many national parks with a special reverence for Yosemite.
She took great pleasure in the local music scene and was always happy to hear local players while she sipped Chardonnay. She never missed a Tower of Power concert.
Diane was an open and giving soul with friends from coast to coast, constantly making new ones wherever she went. She was generous, kind, utterly trustworthy, a great cook, gracious hostess, a whiz with electronic gadgets (especially iPhones), excellent photographer and a bargain sleuth extraordinaire.
