March 1, 1944 – June 17, 2026
Diane Marie Kremer passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula after a courageous four-year journey with breast cancer. She was 82 years old.
Diane was born on March 1, 1944, in Southern California to Robert Hendricks and Yasura Ortiz Hendricks. Her childhood was marked by adventure and discovery as her father's vocation took the family to Hawaii, Bolivia, and various communities throughout the United States. She also enjoyed the love and companionship of her mother's large extended family, which helped shape the strong family values that remained central throughout her life.
Diane graduated from Mangum High School in Mangum, Oklahoma, and went on to earn degrees in Business and Interior Design. Throughout her life, she combined intelligence, creativity, leadership, and determination to build an exceptional professional career.
Her career began at IBM in Southern California as a temporary secretary. Her abilities quickly distinguished her. Diane advanced through a series of increasingly responsible positions including an assignment at IBM's corporate headquarters in Armonk, New York, where she developed an innovative compensation system that improved compensation management throughout the corporation. This achievement earned her one of IBM's most prestigious honors, the IBM President's Award.
After retiring from IBM in 1989, Diane began a successful second career. In 1990 she founded Kremer Design Group and became an award-winning interior designer whose work was admired throughout San Jose, Carmel, Pebble Beach, and surrounding California communities. Her creativity, eye for beauty, attention to detail, and ability to understand her clients' visions earned her widespread respect and recognition within the design profession.
Diane generously shared her knowledge and experience as a guest instructor at colleges and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, inspiring and mentoring future professionals in both business and design.
On May 2, 1981, Diane married Donald Kremer in Half Moon Bay, California. Together they built a loving partnership grounded in friendship, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Diane’s warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit made their years together especially rich and memorable. Following retirement, they returned to the Carmel area, where they enjoyed the beauty of California's Central Coast, traveled extensively and enjoyed the companionship of many friends.
Although Diane achieved considerable professional success, her greatest joy came from her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She celebrated their accomplishments, supported them through life's challenges, and created treasured memories through family gatherings and shared experiences. Her love, encouragement, and devotion enriched the lives of those closest to her.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Diane enjoyed traveling and crocheting. She loved exploring new places and cultures and creating lasting memories through her travels. Her creativity extended beyond interior design to her crocheting, where she crafted beautiful handmade gifts and keepsakes for family and friends that reflected her patience, skill, and thoughtfulness.
Diane's Catholic faith was an important source of strength, guidance, and comfort throughout her life. Her faith shaped the kindness, compassion, and generosity she extended to others and sustained her through both life's joys and challenges.
Diane will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, creativity, determination, and unwavering compassion. Friends and colleagues admired her exceptional organizational skills, leadership abilities, and talent for managing both people and projects. Those who knew her best will remember her warm personality, outgoing spirit, quiet strength, and genuine concern for others. She had a gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Yasura Hendricks, and by her sister, Roberta Hendricks.
Diane is survived by her devoted husband of forty-five years, Donald Kremer; her children, Kimberly Ugay (Alvin) and Michael Kremer; her grandchildren, Jason Fischer, Aaron Ugay, Zachary Ugay, Emi Kremer, and Yumi Kremer; her daughter-in-law, Nami; and her great-grandchildren, Zayn Ugay and Kora Ugay. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues, students, and clients whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Diane's legacy lives on through the love she shared, the lives she touched, the beauty she created, and the example she set through a life of achievement, faith, courage, and service. While her professional accomplishments were many, she would most want to be remembered as a devoted wife and loving family member whose greatest happiness came from seeing those she loved thrive.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on July 8, 2026, at the Carmel Mission Basilica, 3080 Rio Road, Carmel California.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite charity or organization in Diane’s memory.
