

Pacific Grove ~ Dorothy Franceschi died at her home on Sunday, May 3, at the age of 87. She was born on August 6, 1927, in Flushing, New York. She subsequently grew up and lived in the greater New York area until 1972. That was the year Dorothy became a Californian, moving to Pacific Grove with her family, husband Aldo Franceschi and her son Henry DiRocco. After settling in, she worked for many years as an accountant and office manager, enjoying family time by golfing, traveling and sightseeing. Retirement gave her the opportunities to volunteer and work with many different groups and service organizations, which she participated in right up to the very end. Of the many activities Dorothy was involved with, two were very dear to her heart. She was an active parishioner at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. Along with her participation in the greater church community, she spent many hours helping those less fortunate by working with the St. Vincent de Paul and food pantry assistance programs. Dorothy was also a long-time member and supporter of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving for many years in numerous support and leadership roles and winning an assortment of awards for her group at regional and state levels. The older of two children, her younger brother, John Rastetter, was a resident of Pennsylvania when he passed away in 2014. Dorothy’s beloved husband, Aldo Franceschi, passed away in Pacific Grove in 1988. Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Kathie DiRocco. Visitation will be held at The Paul Mortuary Chapel this Thursday, May 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the next day, Friday, May 8, at 10:00 am at St. Angela Merici Church.
