
Frank William Raymond passed away on January 20, 2022 at Emory St Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, GA, at the age of 89. Frank was born April 11, 1932 in the Iberia Parish, Louisiana, one of eight children born to Levy and Amerella Raymond. He resided in Riverdale, GA since 2014, after being a long-time resident of Seaside, CA.
Frank joined the Army, where his military career brought him to Fort Ord Army Post. While stationed at Fort Ord, Frank met Ophelia and they married in June 1969. Together they raised four children. Frank retired from the U.S. Army in 1972 after 20 years of service with a Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star. After his retirement from the Army, Frank went on to work and retire from Community Hospital. Frank loved playing the guitar. He was self-taught. Frank was also an avid bowler and enjoyed the company of his bowling family of friends. Frank bowled in the Monterey City League and many tournaments around the country. Frank bowled the perfect game, a 300-score, in 1997 at Monterey Lanes in Monterey, CA and proudly wore his prize, a 300-score ring. Frank also bowled in the Senior League for the Thunder Makers at Pin Strike Lanes, in Stockbridge, GA. Frank was a regular at the Frank Bailey Senior Center, in Riverdale, GA where he enjoyed the company of good friends and card games.
Frank was preceded by his wife Ophelia; and his three brothers and four sisters. Frank is survived by his four step-daughters Errolyne Boddy, Mary Taylor, Cheri Reaves, and Carol Chandler; grandchildren Michael, Errol, Shawn, Wayne, Keith, Maria, Matthew, Kristen, Marlon, Marcus, Bryan; great grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a small graveside ceremony presided over by Father Michael Volk and supported by the Military Honor Guard at 12:00pm on Feb 18, 2022 at San Carlos Cemetery.
