Helen departed this world peacefully at the tender age of 103. She lived a quiet life, graciously tending to those around her. Married to a military man, she lived in Japan, Puerto Rico and Panama. A long time resident of Pacific Grove, Helen worked for many years in the men’s department of Holman’s Department Store and had a devoted clientele. She was an avid reader and practiced an almost extinct art – that of letter writing and thank you notes. Anyone visiting her or bringing any gift could expect a beautifully written thank you note on their doorstep, almost before they arrived home. Helen walked everywhere up into her nineties. Fiercely devoted to her church, the First United Methodist Church of Pacific Grove, she was active until she was unable to attend. She kept current on the church’s affairs and supported it with her prayers. She was a gracious and loving lady.
She is survived by her cousin, Nancy Rouse of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and many devoted friends. She will be greatly missed but has gone to a much deserved rest. Please visit www.thepaulmortuary.com for condolences.
