Salinas – Hollis was born in Atlanta, GA and passed away in Salinas, at the age of 101. In 1936 he moved to Los Angles, CA, later moving to Seattle, WA where he met his wife of 61 years in 1940.
In 1946 he and his wife moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he was employed at Liberty House Department Store for 43 years. After retirement they moved to Pacific Grove and, in 1990, they moved to Las Palmas area of Salinas.
Hollis is survived by his Nephew Lanier (Deborah) Moore II of Belmont, CA, their children, Christopher Moore of Red Bluff, CA, Melissa Holden and Sean Holden of San Jose, CA, Brandon Moore of Belmont, CA and their grandchildren, Zoe Moore of Lodi, CA and Leia Holden of San Jose, CA. A private family graveside service was held at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove under the direction of The Paul Mortuary.
Hollis will be remembered by all as a kind, caring, intelligent man who always did the right thing. This southern gentleman was the best.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of choice.
