Ideia A. Doubovtseva, a twenty-five year Monterey resident, passed away peacefully at her home. Born in Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, Far East, Russia, she received her Master’s Degree in Literature and Russian Language from Khabarovsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1954, she moved to Irkutsk, Russia where she had a prolific career as a journalist, arts critic, and writer.
Following her retirement in 1993, she immigrated to the United States to be near her son’s family. In the United States, she continued writing for Russian-American newspapers and magazines.
Ideia is honored by awards medals from Russian Federation for her activities in arts and culture and for her labor in advancing victory in World War II.
Ideia is survived by her son, Sergey Fridman, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Vulf Gershenovich Fridman, preceded her in death in 1985.
Friends are invited for a memorial dinner at the Fridman’s residence on Friday, May 14 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
