

Jack Rugar – 8/28/1934 – 11/25/2011 – Monterey resident of 17 years, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2011 with Pat and his daughter Laura at his side after a year long battle with cancer. Jack was born to George and Myrtle Rugar on August 28, 1934 in Niagara Falls, New York and grew up in Willoughby, Ohio. He attended Miami University of Ohio were he received his bachelor’s degree. Jack served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962. He worked for Dan Hubbard Construction Company in Encinitas, California for 30 plus years. Jack began volunteering at The Glen of Pacific Grove in 1999 and quickly became a board member. He served for 12 of the past 13 years. He was always available to meet with vendors, investigate problems, arrange for maintenance issues, watch over the budget, and carry on board business. Jack played a huge part in being sure requirements were met during the many years the board functioned as a self managed association. He was also a member of the Senior Men’s Golf Club in Pacific Grove. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Jane Rugar in 2001. He is survived by his children Laura Garcia of Monterey, Gary (Jeannette) Rugar of Ramona, grandchildren Gabe, Calista, Ryan and Reid. He is also survived by his life partner Patricia Bradley.
