Dear Doolittle family, 

I am sorry to hear of your father's recent passing and offer my sincere sympathy. I learned last week from my brother Grant that John and Priscilla lived in Pebble Beach, and was hoping to contact them, but alas, I am just a little too late. 

My brothers and I occasionally reminisce about you, our neighbors and childhood friends and have good memories of those days. 

I hope you find comfort in your memories of your parents, and wish you all well.

My dearest Jody and family of John Prescott Doolittle,  I am so saddened that your father has passed away. Over the past few years, Jody and I have bonded over many things, not the least of which was the love that we each have for our fathers. I know she will miss him dearly. As a prime example of "The Greatest Generation", your father, and other members of your family have put the safety and security of the American people at the forefront of their endeavors, and I, for one, am very grateful and appreciative of that.  My only regret is that I didn't know about all of the many contributions until recent years and only wish that I could have met the man myself before he passed. I am sure that he would have had great stories to tell. My prayers to all and my hopes that you will keep the legacy alive. I know you will.
