

Jose was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
Born on February 12, 1952 in Tarlac, Philippines, Jose was known for his kind heart and unwavering dedication to his family. At age 19, He arrived in the Monterey Peninsula area on July 1972 and worked in the hospitality industry as a waiter and bartender for over 48 years. He was most well known as the bartender at the former Golden Tee Restaurant located at the Monterey Airport. He and his family were also the owners of Steakhouse 68 Bar and Grill.
Jose enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. So much that In 2005 he and his wife decided to move to Nevada. After 12 years, he missed the slower pace and weather of the Monterey Peninsula and returned to California to be closer to family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Zeny, two children, Sherwin and Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Corazon and brother Lorenzo.
Jose had a passion for gardening, often spending hours tending to his flowers and plants. He was a blackbelt in Okinawan Karate, also an avid tennis player, enjoyed bowling, bicycling and loved sharing stories about his childhood years in the Philippines.
A memorial service will be held on May 9, 2026, at 12PM at St. Jude’s Church in Marina, Ca.
