Cdr. Lawrence “Larry” Eding (Ret.) January 5, 1924 ~ March 4, 2018 Monterey
Lawrence “Larry” Eding, age 94, died peacefully on March 4, 2018. A native of Coalinga (Coaling Station A), CA, he has lived in Monterey since 1961.
Larry served twenty-one years in the US Navy. During World War II, he was stationed in Guam with the Seabees. Among his many accomplishments while serving in the Navy, was the building of 150 homes in La Mesa Village in Monterey in nine months. In addition he built two golf courses, one in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and one in Monterey, California. Larry was especially proud of organizing a Christmas party for an orphanage in 1959 while serving in Port Hueneme, California. They refurbished over 100 bicycles for the orphans. The project continued after he was transferred to Monterey.
Following his retirement from the Navy at the Naval Postgraduate School in February 1964, he worked on various projects in Monterey County including MPC, Peter Paul, Monterey Conference Center, Hartnell College and Carmel High School. Larry finally retired from Civil Service at the age of 74.
Larry was happily married for fifty years to Rena Michael who preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by his children, Patricia Henry of Carmel, Janice Jackson of Clovis and George Eding of England and their families.
A gathering to “talk story” and remember Larry will be held on March 27 at 2:00 pm in the Rendezvous Room at The Park Lane. Please visit www.thepaulmortuary.com to sign Larry’s guest book and leave messages for his family.

Sending thoughts and prayers for the loss of your Father. Larry was the best neighbor to my parents Larry and Pat Bigbee. We always enjoyed seeing him when we visited Mom and Dad.
