

Louise was born on June 14, 1919 to Clyde and Allie (Posegate) Gardner on a farm south of Plainville, KS. She graduated from Plainville Rural High School in 1937. On June 17, 1938 Louise married Harry D. Phillips. He died Nov. 22, 1980. Louise was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marian Gilson and 2 brothers; Morton and Edwin Gardner.
Louise & Harry Phillips moved to Del Rey Oaks in 1956. Louise worked at the Bank of America until she retired. She was a volunteer at the Monterey Peninsula Hospital for 26 years. Louise & Harry belonged to the Stage Stompers square dancing club, the Vagabond Trailer Club and Louise belonged to the Cypress Garden Guild and performed many years with the Choraleers singing group.
Louise was a world traveler and visited many countries including England, Switzerland, Japan, Costa Rica, Canada, Mexico and the Panama Canal.
Louise in survived by her niece Carol and husband, Jim Forgey and family; niece Gayle and husband, Ed Hayter and family; niece Judy Thompson and family, nephew Charles Gardner & family; and sisters-in-law Helen Gardner and Gladys Allen.
Memorial service for Louise Phillips will be July 16th, 2013 at The Paul Mortuary, 390 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: Monterey S.P.C.A., 1002 Salinas Hwy., Monterey, CA or Heartland Hospice, 2511 Garden Rd., A250, Monterey, CA
