Lowell was my step-brother.  I had a good visit with him in early September.  Though very weak and confined to bed, he was lucid and seemed to enjoy the company.  As always, his conversation was sprinkled with jokes.  He graduated from a one-room elementary school near San Jose, attended Santa Clara H.S., then Univ of Colorado.  He did graduate work at UC Berkeley.  He was fluent in French and German, and traveled the world.  He worked for many years as a communications specialist for financial firms in NYC.
