Marie Janie Fletcher

June 18, 1927 – January 13, 2014

Marie went home to be with The Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014. She was born in St. Louis Missouri to Preston and Janie Crabtree. The middle child of four children, Marie was preceded in death by her brother Porter Crabtree and her sister Jessie Crittenden. As a young girl Marie lived in several places in Illinois and when she was seven years old, the family migrated to the Monterey Peninsula where she would remain for the rest of her life. Marie worked in the fishing canneries in Monterey and in several department stores as a sales clerk throughout the Peninsula. Marie loved The Lord and rarely missed church service on Sundays. In her later years she was involved with the “Seasoned Saints” group at Monterey Bay Christian Center and faithfully served meals to her fellow seniors at The Oldemeyer Center in Seaside. She loved to socialize3 and her love for Jesus was demonstrated through her care for others. Marie is survived by her baby sister Opal Whitfill, her daughter Mary Robillard, her son Dale Barrett, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren who rejoice that she is with The Lord and will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Life potluck will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from noon to 5 at Monterey Bay Christian Center, 1184 Hilby Ave., Seaside, CA.
