Robin was born on August 7, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to Mary Jeanette (née Ehrenzeller) and Francis E. “Pete” Conlow. In the 1950’s, the family moved to Lower Merion Township, PA where she attended local public schools. While at Lower Merion High School, she lettered in hockey and lacrosse and was a National Honor Society member, graduating in 1960.
She attended Penn State for a year before enrolling and graduating from Peirce Business College, a private college in Philadelphia. She then worked for the law firm Drinker, Biddle and Reath in Center City, PA. In 1966, she relocated to California and became a long time resident and staple of Carmel, where she worked at CHOMP and Salinas Valley Memorial, while also dedicating much of her free time volunteering for the hospital and other community organizations.
Robin was a loving and caring daughter, sister, and aunt. She would often send letters, gifts, and an assortment of articles of interest to family members for no particular reason except to communicate her love and support. One of her favorite “gives” was a box of See’s Candies, which would unexpectedly show up in the mail with a short note of love.
Robin was a talented and prolific artist. Her sketches of Lombard Street and other San Francisco landmarks, as well as numerous nature paintings, hang on the walls of many family members. She possessed a wonderful sense of curiosity and was well read and up to date on current events. She was very involved with the Hacienda Carmel Art Group and will be sorely missed by all her friends at Hacienda.
In 2018, Robin was diagnosed with cancer and established herself as a true fighter. With a positive, persistent attitude and true faith she set an example for how to survive a life-threatening diagnosis. In 2019, she was declared cancer free. She had an enthusiasm for life, which was reflected in her busy schedule, even after facing a recent second diagnosis of cancer. Robin was cherished by her family and friends and will be greatly missed and forever loved.
She is predeceased by her sister, Nancy Habicht. She is survived by her brothers, Peter (Colleen) Conlow, Francis “Pete” (Michelle) Conlow, brother-in-law Roland Habicht, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 10 am, at St. John’s Chapel, 1490 Mark Thomas Dr, Monterey, CA 93940, where she was an active member for over 50 years, right up to her passing.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders or locally to St. John’s Chapel.
