

Patricia Elizabeth Coyne was born on October 14, 1925 in Milton, Massachusetts. She passed away on March 8, 2016. Patricia was raised in Washington, D.C., Chicago, St. Louis, Salt Lake City and Berkeley. She met her husband, Thomas Coyne, to whom she was married for over 65 years, at Newman Hall in Berkeley, where they made many lifelong friends. She was a graduate of San Francisco State University, where she received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education.
In addition to being a long-time homemaker, Patricia also taught in the Oakland Unified School District, in Concord, CA. and was director of Peninsula Play Group in Pacific Grove. She was active with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), where she served as treasurer for several years of the Monterey County chapter.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Thomas Coyne of Pebble Beach and her daughters, Kathleen (Charles) Pebley and their children, Kerri and Kristi, of Benicia and Maureen (Barry) Ammon of Oakland. Patricia is also survived by her sons, Dennis of Monterey and James (Michelle) and their children, Ryan and Julia of Fresno. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Betty Maher and her brother, James Maher.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 9th and Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove.
