Patty entered her heavenly home on July 7, 2025 and is now with Jesus and her family there. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Margaret and Jule J. Mellen on December 2, 1939. Patty was the fifth of seven children in the family. She graduated from West High School in Green Bay and went to work as a secretary/administrative assistant for Northern Paper Mills for four years. Her first husband of 24 years, Roger L. Reimer, and she moved to Stockton, California with their three children in 1971. Patty was very active in sports as a young girl, teenager, and married woman. She enjoyed tennis, baseball, swimming, bowling, ice-skating, and skiing. She also loved racquetball, jogging and bike riding. Her main focus while her children were growing up was being a homemaker, and she loved to bake for her children. They remember her as a kind of “milk and cookies” mom, who was always there for them after school and whenever they needed her. They received wonderful life lessons from her and all feel grateful for her guidance and support. She returned to work in 1985 as a secretary for Cortopassi/Graham for one year and then worked as an administrative assistant for 5 years for Central Bank Loan Center. She married Jerry Roek in 1987 and they had a wonderful 24 years together. Patty and Jerry traveled extensively abroad; across the U.S., down Baja, Mexico, and to Alaska in their motor home. They also went on many cruises during their later years together. Their family gatherings and special time with grandchildren were an important focus in her life.
Patty was active in the Omega Nu Sorority, a philanthropic organization, for 9 years, holding positions as chairman of the crab feed, antique show, as secretary, and then president. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 24 years where she served as a Deacon, an Elder, and was an active member of Presbyterian Women. She also served on the Parish Care Committee, visiting those in nursing homes or confined to their homes. In fact, this type of visiting was one of the gifts God had given her. She adopted a number of different women in nursing homes from time to time and visited them regularly. Since 2013, Patty has been a member of Lincoln Presbyterian Church. Getting together with friends and family over a game of bridge was a favorite pastime of hers. She was also a very avid Green Bay, Packer fan and a San Francisco Giants fan. In the most recent years, she thoroughly enjoyed living in Carmel and quickly established herself as a kind, caring leader with residents and staff at both the Parklane and The Cottages where she resided. She left an indelible impression on all who were lucky enough to know her. Her light shone bright and was appreciated by everyone who had been in her presence.
Patty was predeceased by her mother and father, Margaret and Jule J. Mellen, her brothers Richard Mellen and Butch Mellen, her sisters Alyce Guzman, Joan Gillis and Sandra Mellen, her husband Gerald Roek, his son, Jeff Roek, and son-in-law, Jim Pack.
