Pauline C. Rabano

Paula Catherine Godwin Rabano, age 82, passed peacefully with her family at her home on March 6. 2022. Paula was a loving wife, sister, a mother of three and “Nana Paula” to her four grandchildren. Born in Hampshire, England, Paula grew up in the seaside village of Selsey Bill during World War II and the post war years. In 1956, Paula and her twin sister, Valda, left England to tour with the famous Les Bluebell Girls of the renowned Lido de Paris, France. Together they traveled with this dance troupe through France, Spain and Italy. After Europe, they continued with the Les Bluebell Girls of the Lido de Paris at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1959, Paula left the entertainment industry to settle in the San Francisco Bay area to start her family.

Paula, who studied at the Bromley Art College in England, was an aspiring artist with oil and acrylic paintings and nurtured her love of English gardens in her homes. She enjoyed history, her daily crossword puzzle, her cats and traveling the world. Proudly English, she loved the ocean and particularly the lighthouse at Pacific Grove which overlooks where she rests in peace.

She is survived by her sisters, Valda Cotsworth and June Butler; husband, Robert Rabano; her children, Samantha, Brett, Shane and Steve Shaver (Stepson), along with numerous nieces and nephews throughout the world. She was predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Katherine Godwin; brothers, Anthony and Keith; grandson, Derek and Sommer Shaver (Stepdaughter).

In accordance with Paula’s wishes, services were observed privately. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, the Pacific Cancer Center and the Hospice of the Central Coast.
