Carmel – Peter, known to many on the Monterey Peninsula as Top Dog Mobile Grooming, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 16th at Carmel Hills Care Center. Peter courageously battled a nearly yearlong battle with lymphoma.
Peter was born in Princeton New Jersey and grew up in Prospect Plains, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Hightstown High School and resided in Princeton, NJ and New Hope, PA prior to moving to Carmel.
He received his horsemaster certificate from the Potomac Horse Center in Maryland in 1968. He studied dressage at the famous riding institute, Reitinstitute Egon von Neindorff, in Karisruhe, Germany in 1972. Later in the 1970’s he attended the University of Montana where he received his certification to practice as a farrier. He worked as a farrier in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Upon moving to Carmel he began his career as a dog groomer, a profession he practiced until his illness.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Charles Ringeisen and his sister, Susan.
He is survived by siblings, Wendy (Al) of Lancaster, PA, David (Paola) of Siguatepeque, Honduras and Linda (Alan) of Appleton, ME. He is also survived by nieces Heather Williams, Turnwater, WA and Amy Williams, Three Bridges, NJ and nephews Stephen Ringeisen, India, Keith Ringeisen, Somerset, NJ and Jonathan Williams, Norristown, PA.
At his request there will be no services. Cremation with his ashes to be scattered off the coast of Big Sur will take place under the direction of The Paul Mortuary.
