Phyllis M. Oliver, a Pebble Beach resident, died peacefully, April 23rd, with her loving family at her side. Phyllis lived a long and full life. She was an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. Phyllis was born in Corning, CA to John and Helen McCarthy on March 11th. They moved to Watsonville where Phyllis’s brother, John L Jr., was born in 1931. John preceded her in death. Phyllis graduated from Watsonville High School, where she met her husband, Richard A. Woodard. They went on to move to Salinas and had 2 children, Susan and Richard Jr. Richard Jr. preceded his mother in death in 1974. As did her husband Richard Sr., in 1975.

Later in life, Phyllis met and married Dr. Samuel H Oliver. Both Active members at Monterey Peninsula Country Club and resided in Pebble Beach. They enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and time spent at their home in Lake Almanor, CA. They enjoyed traveling and time spent with their families. Including Sam’s daughter JoAnne Minnick (Boise, Idaho) and son, Terry Oliver (Southern Shores, NC), who preceded Sam in death. Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend, who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was an active participant in St. Mary’s Church; she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed working at the The American Cancer Society store, “Yellow Brick Road”. Where Phyllis found the greatest joy was being an active participant with her grandchildren and great grand children. Phyllis took great pride in looking impeccable. Always dressed beautifully with a smile and a positive cheerful attitude. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Silacci, granddaughters, Melissa Martella (David) and Lucinda Silacci (Jim Giancola) and grandson Kevin Silacci (Carolyn). Mrs. Oliver was a very caring LADY. Never once did I hear her complain except when her hair was not styled the way she wanted. I will always hold her dear in my heart. Thank you so much Mrs. Oliver for taking the time to teach me a few things about life. Your ever loving friend Paulette Yvonne Coleman.

Phyllis was a loving, and cheerful spirit. She always had a smile on her face, as bright as the matching shoes on her feet. I was priveleged to have known her, through my mother's friendship with her at The Park Lane. She sat at the same table with my Mom, Bobbie Olsen. I got to know Phyllis through the many dinners we all shared together, and on a couple of occassions at Bechlers for lunch- just the two of us. Thank you Phyllis for your friendship to my Mom over the course of the last 16 months of her life. You brought many smiles and great laughs to her. For that I am truly grateful to you. God Bless you, Phyllis.
When you see my Mom in heaven, give her a kiss for me. Love and many Prayers to your family as they grieve their great loss. Love Always, Monique Olsen

My name is Sherry Futch and I wanted to tell you how much my mother-in-law, Eva Futch, cared for Phyllis. The years they shared at Montery Peninsula Country Club were wonderful.
In later years Eva wrote weekly letters to Phyllis after Eva moved to Oakdale.
It meant a lot for Eva to get those letters from Phyllis in return. It was a bright spot in her day.
Take care
Sincerely, Sherry Futch
