Ruben passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021 after a brief illness. Ruben was born in Sierra Madre, California to parents Robert and Josie Rubio and moved to Monterey at the age of two. After graduating from Monterey High School, Ruben worked as a chef at several restaurants on the peninsula, beginning on Fisherman's Wharf.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Richard and Raoul and nephew Richie. Ruben is survived by his brother, Raymond (Angela); Godson, Joshua and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruben was kind and generous to family and friends. Whenever they would dine at a restaurant where he worked, he enjoyed picking up the check. He will be missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
