Sam, born October 21, 1920, passed away Tuesday morning at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula at the age of 90. Born in Port Townsend, WA to Samuel H. and Ruth Stidham, the family moved to Southern California where Sam graduated from San Bernardino Valley College. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army, attended Officer Candidate School, married the love of his life, Nancy Zurcher and shipped out to Europe for the duration of World War II.
After the war, he joined the family business, Stidham Family Markets, and went on to operate markets in Rialto, San Bernardino and Beaumont, CA. In 2003, Sam and Nancy moved to Pacific Grove to be near their son, John, and their grandchildren. His greatest joy accured when the family gathered together for birthdays and holidays.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Nancy; son, John; daughter, Carolyn; and grandchildren, Megan, Nicholas, Caylin (Franco) and Dustin. He was dearly loved and will be missed immensely by his entire family. No services are planned.
