

Sally Magill was born on November 26, 1951 in San Leandro, CA and passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Pacific Grove, CA after more than a year-long battle with cancer. She had resided in the Monterey area for the last 23 years, doing what she loved… helping others as a social worker, most recently working at The Salvation Army of the Monterey Peninsula as their housing program director. Sally touched many people’s lives, helping those in recovery, domestic violence situations, and homeless families. She is originally from the Bay Area and Fresno, CA. Sally enjoyed volunteering her time to various organizations around the Peninsula and was a member of the Monterey Lions Club. She had a deep love of animals and enjoyed taking care of all her friends’ pets and often took in stray cats, either taking them into her own home or finding homes for them in the area.
Sally is survived by her only daughter, Leigh-Ann Magill of Portland, OR; her parents, Byron and Betty Pretzer of Fresno, CA; and numerous brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Hawkins.
