Gernot, Tandy and I were good friends as young girls in Pensacola.  We spent a great deal of time together, and I have very fond memories of her and her family.  I regret not being able to reconnect with her in recent years and just learned of her passing.  
I hope you can take some comfort in your precious memories.

Gernot, we have never met and I doubt I had further contact with Tandy much after probably the middle of the late 60's; however, I wanted to offer to you and your son's my condolences. Even though our paths never crossed again, I feel fortunate to have known such a fine and loving person. Sail on Tandy!

From the moment I walked into my very first rehearsal for my very first show at summer camp, you made me feel welcome in the theater. I was so nervous, but you made theater so fun for all of us. I loved talking to you, and running into you after school and around campus brightened my days. I was lucky to get to know you when I was only eight. I grew up in the theater and you were so supportive and kind. The shows we did together will always be some of my favorites. Catalina was blessed with your presence, and we all miss you so much. Thank you for everything. We love you.

When I heard of your passing, I was in complete shock and grief. You were my mentor, my friend, and an inspiring and beautiful woman. My four years in Catalina Theater would not have been the same without you there to motivate (not only me) but all of the cast and crew to perform and be their very best. I always saw backstage with you as somewhat of an escape. It was where I could talk to you and receive advise for anything and everything while you did my hair or fixed a tear in my costume. You will be missed dearly, Tandy. Thank you for all of the love and passion you put into our theater and into our lives.

So truly grieved to hear of Tandy's passing. We feel enriched, albeit briefly, for having been her neighbor. Unquestioningly a bright spirit whose memory  will continue to reflect the warmth of all that is good, kind open and loving.

It was a pleasure being one of her students in Monterey High School's Art Academy from 1999-2001. Oh, Tandy...The children of Monte Vista knew it was time to get ready for a show when you and Ellen Collord got together...You were a treasure and a light in many children's lives. You brought a smile of joy to many of us when we saw you were approaching. Peace to you and your family.

Tandy, you were my mentor, friend and confidant.  Without you, I would have never been introduced to the world of costuming and I am forever grateful.  From Colton to Monterey High, Pac Rep to Santa Catalina, local projects to those around the world, you have touched thousands of lives and your legacy will live on forever!  Thank you for shaping me into the person I am today.   You taught me so much and I will continue to look up to you for advice… for no one will ever be able to fill your shoes. Tandy, thank you so much for the excellent work you did creating my Big Bopper outfit. I'm still using it nearly 10 years and 300 shows later. I still remember going to your house for the fitting. We had a great time kibitzing as you made measurements and cut pieces. I always appreciated you humor and warmth.

Tandy, Rest in Peace. I couldn't ask for a better friend, mentor, and idol. The time I spent with you backstage and the countless hours folding clothes and the amazing advice you gave me will never be forgotten. You are an inspiration to many and you will never be forgotten. Love You

Tandy, how I am going to miss you. You taught me so much over the years that I knew you. I still remember the first time I met you. It was at my summer camp and you where my teacher. You told me I shouldn't hide behind the curtain but be out on the stage. Thanks to you, I am in love with theater and hope to be at an art college to pursue directing and acting. Although I didn't know as a close friend, your hugs and laugh brightened everyones day. You will be missed dearly at at Catalina and in the world. Rest in peace Tandy. We love you.

We lined up as she did our hair before the shows. Loved her costumes. Stood in awe of her costume storage room. And cherished her life advice. I am sad that she never had a chance to work in the brand new trailers that would have given her the workspace she deserved but she utilized those cramped, rickety dressing rooms to the max, cramming up to 40 girls, their costumes, and their emotions into a confined 3 room space. From the baby campers to the senior upper school girls she cherished each girl as a unique person and watched us grow up. Tandy Messenger was a truly special person and Catalina was extraordinarily lucky to have had her as a costumer. The Monterey Peninsula theatre community will miss her presence.

Tandy, during the last three years that I knew you, you were such a great inspiration, mentor, and friend.  I will miss our talks in the trailer, your bright smile, beautiful costumes, advice, and your presence in the theater.  Thank you so much for coming into my life. I will miss you very much.

Tandy Messenger, Rest in peace. You were an amazing person to work with, an amazing friend and mentor and over all  just an amazing person. It was with you that I found my love and passion for being on the technical side of theatre.  It was with you that I was comfortable at Catalina. You will be missed dearly by  everyone  who's hearts you touched. Tandy, though you might not be with us here today, you will always be in our hearts. There telling us how to do our job or just giving us advice on life. Sharing so many laughs and memories in the trailers. I do regret not being able to see you this year, but I know that you are still with us in our hearts and I know that we will think of you through every show that we do. We miss you and rest in peace. Tandy Messenger, Rest in peace my friend. I wil miss you so much. You were the greatest friend I could ask for and you taught me so much. You were always so strong; both on the inside and on the outside. You were kind Tandy. I am honored that I had the chance to spend priceless moments with you. Many memories remain in my mind of the hours spent in the costume room, laughing our way through our work, and having heartfelt conversations.I will never forget our time together Tandy. I regret not being able to see you one last time. I never got to say goodbye. But I know you are in a better place now. You never gave up, and you fought hard to get what you wanted. You were a great friend to me in my time of need and I thank you. I will miss you greatly. Nothing will ever be the same without you and no one will ever do costuming here as good as you.
