Thomas J. Slogan (Slowik)
August 12, 1939 - July 31, 2023
Tom Slogan passed away peacefully at his home in Pacific Grove after three years of health issues. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rochelle. He is also survived by few remaining relatives but so many, many friends.
Tom was born and raised in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Slogan (Slowik) and Mercedes Slogan and the brother of Earl and Robert (all deceased).
After graduating from St. James High School, Tom worked in construction for four years. He then put himself through college at Millersville State University graduating with a teaching credential and a minor in art. A few years later, Tom decided to pack up all his belongings in his TR4 and pioneer out West to Nevada, later landing in Marin County, California.
His gift to all of us was his artistic creativity and his wonderful sense of humor. He excelled in sales which landed him jobs with Kirkhill Inc, Coca-Cola Corp, and Outboard Marine Corp. Later, he became Vice President & controller of Towers Interior Inc. and, finally, a real estate sales agent. Hobbies included his love of collecting antiques which was ever present in his personal “man cave”. Other loves were sculpting, fishing, boating, landscape gardening and going to garage sales and auctions.
Tom and his wife had a dream of relocating from the Bay Area to Pacific Grove. In 1989, they were able to build a new home and make that dream come true. He considered himself so very blessed to live in this wonderful paradise every day. Tom will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
P.S. Tom always joked that when he passed just put in his obituary simply said….. “Tom Died”.
