Virginia (Ginny) Kathleen Davis passed away on January 19, 2025 after a short bout with cancer. Ginny was born in Arlington, VA to G. Gervaise (Gerry) Davis III and Kathleen Anderson Davis on March 11, 1957. The family moved to Van Nuys, CA where her sister Cynthia (Cindi) Davis was born in 1959. The family then moved to Marin County, CA before finally settling in Monterey in 1962. Two more sisters, Susan Davis (1962) and Shauna Davis (1965) were born in Monterey.
Ginny attended Monterey public schools, graduating from Monterey High School in 1975. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland, CA in 1979 and then obtained her master’s degree from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA. Ginny worked in business administration before choosing the medical field. She started out as an EMT, moved up to a paramedic, and then always wanting to do more for others, she furthered her education and became a Physician’s Assistant (PA).
Ginny worked at several different health clinics as a PA in general practice and in pediatrics in Soledad, Watsonville, Salinas, Gonzales and later Seaside. She became fluent in Spanish so that she could better serve her patients. Ginny enjoyed her work as a PA and was well loved by her patients and coworkers.
In 1995, she met Kim Kelley at a music festival in Northern California while both were working as EMTs, and they remained together until Kim’s death in 2021 (they married in 2013). They had two children, Makenna Kelley Davis (23) and Griffin Kelley Davis (19).
Ginny loved to travel with her family and friends, most recently completing a tour around the world visiting many National Parks and animal habitats. The highlight of the tour was seeing Dian Fossey’s gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
She is survived by her children, three sisters, nieces and nephews – Tarrah, Kelly, Lauren, Riley and Jimmy, new grandnephew Finch, and sister in laws Kathleen Kelley and Tracy Kelley-O’Neill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerry and Kathy Davis, who both passed in 2018.
Donations in Ginny’s name can be made to the Kim Kelley Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund, established in 2021 to provide scholarships for Hartnell nursing students (https://give.salinasvalleyhealthfoundation.org) or the charity of one’s choosing.
