March 5, 1938 - July 19, 2022
William “Bill” Little, of Carmel, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 84 years. Born in Chicago, IL, and raised in Cleveland Heights, OH, he graduated from St. Ignatius High School and from the University of Detroit, where he studied electrical engineering. A job offer and more agreeable weather lured him to Los Angeles, where he worked in the aerospace industry at McDonnell Douglas and Hughes Aircraft. In time he earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and began a long career in finance that ultimately brought him and his young family to the Monterey Peninsula.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Doris Lee Little; and siblings, John Henry Little, Patricia Enright (William), Mary Emily Little, and Margaret Ann Kennedy (Thomas). He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Susan; son, William Lee, of Columbus, OH; daughter, Gina Maria, of Carmel, CA; mother-in-law Maria Carlin, of Carmel, CA, brothers-in-law, James Carlin (Cynthia), of Edison, NJ, and Mark Carlin, of Absecon, NJ; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear and lifelong friends.
Bill was a longtime parishioner at the Carmel Mission, where he served as an enthusiastic docent and Knight of Columbus. He was always willing to share entertaining accounts of his many memorable adventures and mishaps. His easygoing manner, eclectic knowledge, sense of humor, ability to strike up conversation with anyone under any circumstance, devotion to family and friends, humility, honesty, and sincerity will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd, at the Carmel Mission Basilica, with a reception to follow in Crespi Hall. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thepaulmortuary.com.
